About NAT

Neurological Alliance Tasmania (NAT) is an alliance of 10 not-for-profit organisations representing or supporting the many thousands of Tasmanians living with or affected by neurological or progressive neuromuscular conditions.

ABOUT NAT

Our Work

The Alliance works to improve the lives of people who have neurological or progressive neuromuscular conditions by:

  • working towards having a community, including health professionals, that is aware of, and more importantly understands, the implications of these conditions for people who live with them, and for their families and carers;

  • promoting active co-operation between the members which will lead to best practice; and

  • attracting resources to enable the Alliance and the individual member organisations to meet their stated aims in support of people who live with these conditions.

About Neuromuscular or Neurological Conditions

Progressive neuromuscular or neurological conditions are complex and disabling conditions and while there are individual disease trajectories and differing disease characteristics, all are degenerative and incurable.

The impact on people living with these conditions and their families and carers can result in significant disability, and impacts on the emotional, physical, social, financial and employment areas of their lives.

NAT member organisations recognise they have many areas of complementary expertise, and that working together strengthens the voice of people living with or affected by progressive neuromuscular or neurological conditions.
